on-site, with Open Space Contemporary Arts

  • No.9 卡拉OK karaoke Bar 36-48 Wright Street Adelaide, SA, 5000 Australia (map)

featuring a new version of Crepuscule by Jesse Budel.

Place is foundational to our being in the world – our encounters with the world always unfold in places. On-site is a curatorial model that engages with place to consider how our memories are enriched by recollections of places, and how places retain remnants of layered histories in the collective residual memory.

on-site is a series of site-specific experiences of art that will be presented in community contexts outside of traditional gallery and museum formats. The curatorial approach addresses the socio-cultural, political and affective dimensions of place-based curating to confront the colonial present. The first iteration of on-site will be presented at No 9 Karaoke Bar in Adelaide Chinatown in April 2026. The commissioned artworks invite artists from diverse disciplines to consider notions of place, space and belonging in encounters where new rhythms of cultural expression can unfold.

This project is part of OSCA’s state-wide artist commissioning initiative, Projects of the Everyday, that seeds, develops and presents artist-led projects in innovative spaces of creativity, making and experimentation.

This project is supported by Create SA and The City of Adelaide.
